A LITTLE ABOUT FLAT DESIGN
One of our articles mentioned flat design as the mainstream of web design in recent years. Today we will talk about it in more detail.
What is the concept of flat design?
Flat (translated from English – flat) design is based on three main pillars: the use of bright colors, affordable typography and extremely simple and clear forms. This type of design is very minimalistic, because of which it may even seem that it is too simple and does not represent anything worthwhile. This is actually not the case. The flat design is unusually convenient in that it focuses the user primarily on the content of the site itself, while emphasizing the very details that should not be overlooked with individual elements.
Is flat-design so simple and boring?
We should also dwell on the colors that can be used in flat-design. This is a real expanse for the designer, because the flat design allows the imagination not to dwell on just one thing, but in every way to experiment with colors and shades, so on such sites you can find the intersection of five or more bright colors. At the same time, a categorical “no” is said to all sorts of gradients, volumetric shadows and other tools that create the effect of depth. It is also worth noting that the palette in a flat design is bright and bold, which in every way disposes to the contact, casting a light and joyful mood.
Also, the flat design of sites is extremely simple in terms of perception, since it is based on geometric primitives: squares, circles, triangles in all their possible manifestations. Such a display of elements is always visually understandable. It allows you to focus on particularly important information.
Flat design – new or forgotten old?
Do not think that flat design is a modern and very recent trend. In fact, flat elements have been used for a long time, however, due to the peculiarities of the development of the IT industry market, they were not noticed and even somewhat forgotten. But Microsoft, with their Metro UI and Windows 8, revitalized this design area, giving it a new life: simple blocks, original icons and vibrant accents have won the hearts of millions of users. Thus, flat-design has long entered our lives, once again proving that beautiful can be convenient.
